Constantly looking for new shows and movies to watch? Perhaps that has led you to follow one of the many social media accounts that pump out an endless stream of recommendations.

If so, you might have heard of the 2023 movie Stranger Danger, which is allegedly streaming on Netflix.

An account on TikTok called Movie Netflix 2023 claims that Stranger Danger is one of the best movies of the year. The account shared a two-minute clip from the movie featuring a young couple with a baby tricking an older woman to allow them to break into their house.

The account didn’t provide a lot of information about the new title, but claimed in text, both in the video and caption, that it is a top watch. But, here’s the deal: There’s no movie on Netflix called Stranger Danger.

Is Stranger Danger a real movie? Here’s everything you need to know.

How to Watch Netflix’s Stranger Danger:

We have some bad news and some good news. To start, Stranger Danger is a fake invasion movie created by the aforementioned TikTok user. But it didn’t come out of nowhere. The clip is taken from an episode of the new Netflix series The Night Agent, which consists of 10 60-minute episodes, which is way more content than you’d get with a movie.

The buzzy video was lifted from the official Netflix Facebook page, which labeled the clip as “Stranger Danger” but specified that it was from The Night Agent. See, Movie Netflix 2023, reading is fundamental.

If you don’t want to watch the entire show, the clip is featured at the end of the first episode, titled “The Call,” and more information about the encounter is revealed in the following episode and revisited throughout the series.

Did People Think Netflix’s Stranger Danger Was Real?

Unfortunately, the TikTok account managed to deceive many viewers who watched the video. They were able to achieve this by pulling a high-quality video from an existing project, making it look realistic. The account also has a following of 85.8K people and seems to be reliable majority of the time. They even later posted a clip from The Night Agent and accurately labeled it as such.

The Stranger Danger video has been viewed over 12.1 million times in less than 24 hours, garnering tons of comments from people claiming that they can’t find the movie on their accounts — some even reacted in anger, expressing that they “hate people that write the wrong name” while teasing popular releases.

One commenter wrote, “Why do people post things and not give details,” seemingly upset by the lack of information provided by the TikTok account.

Though, given that The Night Agent is very popular – having debuted as the third most-viewed series on Netflix – a few people left comments directing interested viewers to the proper title. “FYI, it’s not a movie, it’s a series. We started watching it today. 10 episodes. We are starting episode three. Good so far, would recommend,” wrote one user. Not all heroes wear caps, some are Denise from Alberta, Canada.

But, the TikTok account still left some viewers confused. One wrote, “There’s ten episodes and not one is called ‘Stranger Danger,’ guess I’m missing something,” and another suspected that the title was only available to watch in certain countries, writing, “I wish people would put what country they watched it in.”

What Is The Night Agent?

Created by Shawn Ryan, The Night Agent is an action thriller series which premiered March 23 on Netflix. The series is based on a novel with the same name by Matthew Quirk and follows an FBI agent who is hunting down a suspected mole while protecting a former CEO from the people who murdered her family members.

The series premiered to critical acclaim and high viewership, and was renewed for a second season within one week after premiering, which is rare these days considering Netflix’s notably high cancellation rate.

Gabriel Basso, Luciane Buchanan, Fola Evans-Akingbola and Hong Chau star. The latter was named a “sleeper star” in Joel Keller’s review of the series for Decider. “Hong Chau seems to have the world-weary chief of staff patter down pretty well,” he wrote.

Tehcnically, you can still watch Stranger Danger on Netflix; however, some may be disappointed that it is a TV series instead of a movie.
